NorthStars Gain A Point In A Shootout Loss

The NorthStars were fortunate to come away with a point despite the fact that penalties where 41 minutes to the NorthStars and 18 minutes to the Flyers. Going into the overtime period the Stars were down 2 men, one with a 5 minute major and another with a 4 minute double minor for a questionable intentional headchecking call.
Kapuskasing was first on the board at 14:23 of the first period and it stayed that way until the NorthStars scored at 12:59 mark of the second period. Kapuskasing stormed back 48 seconds later to go ahead 2 to 1 and thatís how the period ended.
The NorthStars tied the score at 17:07 of the third period then at 11:28 Kapuskasing came back and tied it again. The NorthStars scored to go ahead 4 to 3 at the 4:33 mark with Kapuskasing scoring at 1:37 to tie it again. Three of Kapuakasing goals were scored on the power play.
That setup the 5:00 minute sudden victory overtime period, with the NorthStars short two men. The NorthStars fought off the Flyers to send the game into shootout.
After 12 different shooters the Flyers beat goaltender Brian Kment to win the game. Kment played outstanding throughout the game and came up big in the overtime and shootout despite the loss. Matt Pinder had a big night with three goals and an assist, while the single went to Anthony Stefano who also picked up two assists.

2. Anthony Stefano from Matt Pinder and Devin Shell at 10:26 of the second period.
3. Matt Pinder from Anthony Stefano and Jaron Rowe at 17:07 of the third period.
4. Matt Pinder from Nathan Hebert and Brandon Grandinetti at 4:33 of the third period.
Next action for the NorthStars is Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm when the host the same Kapuskasing Flyers at the John Rhodes Arena. Telus Cup ticket packages will be on sale in the lobby at all home NorthStars games.
