Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:20 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a dumpster fire in the rear East parking lot of the courthouse.
Video surveillance in this area shows a lone person wearing a dark long sleeved shirt and a dark baseball hat ride up to the dumpster on a bicycle. This person opens the lid of the dumpster and is then seen riding away on the bicycle. A few minutes later smoke began bellowing out of the dumpster. Police and Fire Services responded and the fire was put out without further incident.
Damage was considered minimal as the fire was contained to the interior of the dumpster. Any member of the public that has information about this suspect is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
