Jeannette Orazietti who was born and raised in the Soo has always been a creative person. She was a graphic designer for a number of years but soon took her abilities one step further in 2008 when she got into cake and cookie designs. Then came her cupcakes. They come in several delectable flavours such as lemon pie, red velvet, french toast, chocolate extreme and s'mores. Those are her most popular flavours. Good luck picking just one?

How do you choose, cake, cookies or cupcakes? I’ve ordered her Easter cookies and they were a big hit. Not only were they delicious, but each one had her own unique icing decorations on them for a rabbit, chick, flower or egg.

With a rapidly growing business, her upstairs home kitchen became far too small for her demands. A professional kitchen downstairs was designed to be most effective for her needs and her lucrative business, “Jeannette’s Custom Cakes.” There is no end to her imagination so she will always have new ideas and designs to bring out to the forefront with her wonderful baking skills.

She totally enjoys this new, fun career and best of all working from home allows her to spend more quality time with her daughter Elizabeth who was born in 2011. No doubt she will be baking under Jeannette’s watchful eye as soon as she’s old enough. Lucky girl!

Jeannette says, “Baking and motherhood is a blessing. It's nice to keep work separate from Elizabeth, but being an entrepreneur just doesn't allow for that. She is often downstairs hanging out while I am working. But the true benefit about all of this is that I am able to adjust my schedule to what she needs.”

Jeannette and her husband Anthony competed on Cake Walk making a wedding cake that was televised on the Slice Network. Although they didn’t win, Jeannette said it was a great, learning experience.

According to Jeannette, “My favourite things to make are anything I can put my own spin on; nothing generic coming out of this kitchen. My best sellers are wedding, birthday and celebration cakes as well as our red velvet cupcakes.”

Many local businesses have used Jeannette’s cake expertise. Some include Bubble Pop Beauty, Lucidia Studios, Leon’s Furniture, Northern Credit Union, The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, The Salvation Army and The Women in Crisis Centre.
