BORDER SHOPPING HEADLINELocal2.ca had the opportunity to bring up the "Rude Canadian Shoppers" story that originated with another Canadian / U.S. Border city this week that made national news.

If you recall Citizens of Bellingham, Washington are demanding "Canadian-Free, American-Only" hours at a Costco store, saying that they are simply fed up at long lines of Canadian shoppers taking advantage of the weak US dollar.

Mayor Debbie Amaroso admitted she wasn't aware of the story but did comment, "I personally choose to shop Canadian and I urge others to do that too"

She did add however , "people have the right to shop where they can get a good bargain"

Michigan Sault Mayor, Anthony Bosbous said he welcomes Canadians to shop in the Michigan Sault "it helps both of our economies" There's Americans that come over here to eat out and do some shopping just as Canadians come over to visit us"

"They are fine people" Bousbous spoke of Canadian shoppers .

A Facebook page called "Bellingham Costco needs a special time just for Americans" has drawn a huge backlash north of the border in British Columbia this past week!"

According to residents in Bellingham, Canadians are "rude" and "greedy". Pictures on the Facebook page show Canadians grabbing all of the milk at the Costco in question and lineups at the cash registers, and one picture shows an SUV taking up two parking spaces in the lot outside of the store.
