Councillor Fata and his wife met some very nice visitors on the Board Walk Monday afternoon.
A bus load of visitors from Toronto were enjoying a 3 day bus tour to our City which included a ride on the Agawa Canyon Train Tour on Tuesday. After talking to them, sharing of information, it was evident that they were having a good time in our fair City.
"Speaking of the Board Walk, after our visitors' bus left, I noticed some concerns with the waterfront area that I found disturbing. First, there's a group of individuals that park themselves by the small white bridge, in the water; they swim and consume alcohol. I've seen them there several times while on my bike. " Fata said.
"Secondly, there's some known individuals that come by where the locals fish and have been seen giving young people alcohol; one apparently selling drugs and some carrying on with lewd behavior that I'm sure we all agree, there should be zero tolerance for. Security guards working the area must be more aggressive, more visible and Police Services have got to be ready to lay charges."
We have a beautiful Board Walk; citizens should feel safe and these illegal activities should not have to be tolerated there, or for that matter, any where in our City.
