
The Restricted Fire Zone imposed in Northeastern Ontario will be lifted as of 12:01 am July 19, with the exception of Zones 21 and 22. These zones (21, 22) encompass the Espanola, Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, North Bay and Temagami areas. Under a Restricted Fire Zone, no open burning, including campfires are permitted, and all burning permits are suspended.
Nineteen new fires have been confirmed thus far today in the Northeast Region.
Three of these fires are in the Bancroft area, 1 in each of the Hearst and Parry Sound areas, 2 in each of Pembroke and Sault Ste. Marie areas, 4 in North Bay and 6 in Sudbury.
There are currently 38 active fires in the Northeast Region, burning 48125.2 hectares.
To date, there have been 498 fires in the Northeast Region, having burnt 49744.5 hectares.
