July 10, 2012 at approximately 11:35 a.m. police received a call to attend Highway 108 regarding a motor vehicle collision.
On scene, police learned that a vehicle was southbound on Highway 108 when suddenly a rear left wheel of the vehicle allegedly became detached. Another vehicle travelling northbound collided with one part that had become detached from the vehicle causing damage to the vehicle.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY WHILE PART BECOMES DETACHED.
The driver has been summoned to attend Elliot Lake court on August 15, 2012.
The OPP would like to remind all motorists that they are responsible for the mechanical fitness of their vehicles and may be charged if parts/wheels become detached,
