OPP received a report from a citizen advising of a letter he had received in the mail on July 5, 2012.The letter was issued from the Agricultural Bank of China stating that a relative had passed away and in order to inherit a multi-million dollar estate he was to contact a male at a given phone number where more details about the transaction would be given.
The letter was postmarked from Spain and further investigation confirmed it to be the “Spanish Fraud Scam” as listed on the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre website.
It's not always easy to spot a scam, and new ones are invented every day.
