
A Sault Ste. Marie female runner was the top Canadian finisher at this past weekend's Tamarack Homes National Capital Race Weekend in Ottawa.
21 year old Rhiannon Johns placed sixth overall with a time of 34:45 for the 10K race.
Johns was cheered by Beth and Alan Johns - aunt and uncle. Rhiannon is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Johns of Sault Ste. Marie . Rhiannon has been attending the University of Alabama - Birmingham
“It feels great,” said Johns. “To have my aunt and uncle ... and thousands cheering us along the whole way. I hadn’t run a 10K road race before. I ran the course (Friday). I just went out pretty conservative.” Johns told the Ottawa Sun.
