The Sault’s own Team Jacobs was named the Northern Ontario Men’s Curling Champions on Saturday evening after winning in the final game against Team Jakubo of the Copper Cliff Curling Club.
Jacobs faced the other vying Sault team, Team Phillips, in the 2:30 semi-final game to put them into the finals. The semi-final game saw Team Jacobs achieve a nearly impossibly feat as they scored 8 points with 8 rocks in the house at the end of six ends for a final score of 14-3.
The final game against Jakubo ended in a 9-2 score and gave Team Jacobs the Northern Ontario Champion title for the third year in a row. Jacobs and his teammates, E.J. Hardnen, Ryan Harnden and Scott Seabrook now prepare for the Brier that is set to take place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from March 3rd -11th.
