Returning artists and new artists will be sharing their passion and skill with youth to offer workshops of the highest quality. Beading, moccasin making, painting, drawing, encaustic, crochet, dance, wood carving and many more exciting workshops will be offered between November 2011 and May, 2012.
Youth will have their work showcased during the end of year exhibition and at Passport to Unity 2012.
In addition to the wonderful workshops happening in the community, we have also partnered with William-Merrifield Public School to offer after school art workshops with local artists. These workshops are delivered every other week on site at William-Merrifield, and the response has been overwhelming. Principal Kelly Colter and the staff at William-Merrifield have been very supportive of the program; twenty students came out to the first workshop, twenty-five came out to the second, and we are anticipating continued growth. The youth of William-Merrifield have an enthusiasm for artistic expression that is catching, and we are proud to be working closely with the wonderful students and staff of William-Merrifield.
