Crime Stoppers and the Ministry of Natural Resources are seeking the public’s assistance concerning the recent act of careless hunting in Sault Ste. Marie and area.

Every year hunters locate rotting carcasses of unlawfully shot and abandoned moose – these are moose that are lost to honest hunters and to the tourist industry that relies on healthy moose population.

The animal in question was shot by a rifle and left to rot where it died in a forestry cut block.

This event occurred in W.M.U. 36, North of Saunders Lake on the Shaw Road in Shingwaukonce Township.

It is suspected that the moose was shot between Saturday, October 18 and Friday October 24, 2014.

There was no effort to retrieve the animal after it died which is an aggravating factor in this case.
