What is LOCAL2?

LOCAL2 is local "to" Sault Ste. Marie. We are 100% owned and operated by people who grew up right here in the Sault. We love our community and do everything we can to support it, including sponsoring over a dozen local arts and non-profit organizations every year.

LOCAL2 is a brand new, highly innovative media platform that combines the "traditional" Internet media format of news, sports and weather with community video programming reminiscent of the golden days of local TV, a community- driven events calendar and announcements system, an expansive directory of local businesses and organizations, and other popular features like gas prices, road conditions, games, webcams and more.

Everything on the site is socially connected, allowing viewers to share and discuss everything on LOCAL2 with their Facebook or Twitter account.

The defining feature of LOCAL2 however, is that much of the content, including news, sports, events, announcements and directory listings, is all viewer submitted. Any LOCAL2 viewer can very easily publish content to the site. This means LOCAL2 is the first and only media outlet in Sault Ste. Marie that is truly community-driven. It also means people are going to tell their friends that their story got published, and also that our event calendar is the most open and extensive of its kind in the Sault.
