Towers Street Fire

Viewer submitted footage of the Tower Street Fire. Which occured Sometime late Saturday.

Michael Babcock caught this dramatic video of Saturday morning’s apartment fire on Towers Street.

Babcock said he had gone out to the patio after finishing his DJ set at Rockstar Republic when he began to smell burnt plastic and saw smoke coming from Towers Street.

“I turned my camera on and went to the scene,” said Babcock.

Babcock and others can be heard in the video urging the apartment building’s occupants to flee the fire.

He said the situation was “tense and chaotic” as patrons who had been at Rockstar Republic’s grand opening night ran to try to help.

“An off-duty firefighter or one training to be was on the scene telling people to get back and wait for the fire department. I think it helped there was voice of reason and experience on the scene,” said Babcock.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze, along with city police and city fire services.
