The following note was sent in by Local2.ca viewer, Brenda Cooper from the Habitat for Humanity - Sault Ste. Marie BranchHabitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie and Area successfully collected its first million pennies by parade day - 1,015,350 pennies. We received a flood of coins during the week before the parade, and we know that much of this was in response to your coverage. Thank you from all the staff and volunteers at HFHSSMA and from the as-yet-unknown family who will
eventually benefit from the house we will be able to build.
We are now 10% to our goal amount of 10 million pennies (in less than 4 months!). As a note of interest, we are still WELL ahead of the other Habitat for Humanity affiliates who have chosen to enter HFH's Great Penny Race, both in total pennies collected and in donations per capita.
