Once again the Hack and Slash Golf League leaves it's mark on Sault Ste. Marie by playing outside the box at the beautiful Crimson Ridge Golf Club. With Brent Pusch overseeing the course setup, the mid-season scramble was played backwards the entire night by teeing off from in front of the green and
playing back to the white tee blocks. Hitting a white block constituted a sunk putt.
When approached Brent commented, "I don't think that has ever been tried before".
The mastermind, or fool of the idea, Peter Haines said, "I am not sure if anyone in Ontario has every played their course backwards, but now the league can say 'we have and it was great'.
Not knowing the distances, having to play shots from areas that you normally just look at in passing, having to play to very small 'greens' (tee boxes), getting a different look at a course you play often made for a tough and fun night. Nobody was hurt, the course wasn't damaged and the beverages tasted the same.
Judging by the scores, the players did remarkably well with the limited course information they had.
